This hotel is as gorgeous as it is expensive; for a high end resort hotel, you probably already know that. The hotel was kinda recently refreshed so the rooms are all super nice and clean. The rooms with better views or higher floors (of course) come at add on cost. When checking in, we asked for a higher floor and the lady at the desk said we had already received a complementary double upgrade to the room we were handed. I pointed out I was handed the room I booked...she still insisted we'd have to pay more to get a higher floor. I get it...but she was kinda rude and dismissive to us through the whole checkin process. Everyone else on staff was lovely. Now, there's also no real spa here (they kinda set up camp in some standard rooms), looking back through the reviews, the spa here seems to be always in flux. But for some good news, as a guest it's easy to get a table at House Without A Key (their Hawaiian music venue) and there's Jazz in the lounge at night. I'd avoid the dinner at La Mar, it was fine but not worth the cost. Also, while not really having any beach access, the pool and pool services are really great. So if you got the dime and the time, this can be a pretty nice spot and it's not really kid friendly so take that as a plus or minus...for a quiet getaway, I'd give it a plus. Kinda still, I feel there's some kinks to be worked out.
