HIDE London Reviews from The Last Year
The worst food poisoning in my life
I cannot stress enough how utterly disgusted I am by the oysters food poisoning incident I experienced at Hide restaurant. The fact that this has been happening for two years is not only shocking but downright unacceptable. It's abundantly clear that Hide has a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of its patrons. It's disgraceful that a restaurant of their supposed caliber would continue to ignore such serious complaints, putting countless individuals at risk of harm. This level of negligence is inexcusable, and I urge anyone considering dining at Hide to think twice about their own health and safety.
Too expensive for such poor and impersonal service
We booked this a month in advance to celebrate a new job and we were really excited. We booked in for 11am on a Sunday morning for breakfast/brunch. When we arrived, it was immediately apparently that they were very short staffed. It took us 5 minutes to be seen and seated. Once we were at our table, we were ignored for another 5 minutes, and I had to flag someone down to ask for menus. We eventually ordered our food and drinks, conscious that breakfast service was ending at 11:30. Our food arrived within 5 minutes (which was great). Our drinks however, (coffee, juices) arrived after we’d totally finished our food. Very little in the way of apology. The food was fine, but the service is really poor and impersonal. Lots of people around us left while we were eating, and none of the tables were cleaned for ages, which we thought was odd. It’s a very very expensive breakfast place, and I honestly think you could get much better service and better food for a quarter of the price elsewhere.
Food very good as ever, faceless and overly efficient service
As expected the food was very nice. Croque Madame, French toast and granola bowl all executed to the elevated standard you’d hope for when paying Michelin star prices for a brunch. However the service was abrupt, curt and too efficient, with barely a word spoken and plates cleared the second they were finished with. Some people may appreciate this efficiency, but for me it was too rushed, especially when the restaurant wasn’t even half full. A note to the tableware curator - serving tea in a wide-bottomed glass tea pot, however beautiful, is highly impractical as the tea goes cold very quickly.
Had several comfortable stays here
Very pleasant hotel near our family. Convenient to London tube. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you, manager and Ilknur
Not what it was!
Very disappointed. I went to this restaurant alot when it started. Its gone downhill. The service was awful, my guests were served drinks and food across me rather than being walked around to - first cardinal sin of service. Not all the waiting staff understand English clearly so we had to continue to repeat instructions. The bread served with our breakfast was so tough we should have been given a steak knife!
A great night out with family
Stunning restaurant, great ambience and magnificent food! The steak is exception and the caviar was delicious. Service was fantastic 👌
absolute culinary masterpiece!
Hide is an absolute culinary masterpiece! From the elegant ambiance to the impeccable service, every aspect of our dining experience was flawless. The menu features innovative dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. A truly unforgettable dining experience in London!
Great breakfast place
Nice quiet place, lovely food and service. The design and decor was my favorite specially the stairs. I reccome the salmon Benedict , Nd the truffle scrambled eggs .
HIDE - Best you Hide somewhere else :-))
The reason I am giving this pretentious "breakfast" place is for the decoration. Superb decoration and the rest zero starts. Food is well over-priced, taste is terrible and as for freshness of the bread, it's a joke and if you think I am exaggerating, I am not and have no reason to do so. Only went to this place as a result of a friend posting in his Inst account. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment where they don't even know the difference between the types of coffee they have. Having asked whether they make Cortado, ordered one, and received espresso macchiato although taste was good, but was an espresso at the end of the day. The bread couldn't be cut with the knife so makes you wonder whether it was the bread that was left over from the day before or the knife was blunt?! My wife, who loves croque monsieur, didn't even finish half of her food, saying it was tasteless. The total bill for a Caffe Latte, espresso macchiato, crushed avocado (straight from the fridge to the plate!) on toast with herb dressing (some flowers) with two poached eggs came to £68.90.. Total rip-off... Next day, went to Fallow Restaurant on Haymarket, amazing breakfast for two with lots of coffee, paid 2/3rds of Hide... You be the judge..
I tried the tasting menu.
The presentation and wine selections were absolutely stunning. But I feel like the presentation overpowers the food overall. The food was okay and not amazing as I thought it would be.
Had an absolutely fabulous meal at Hide, my best during
Had an absolutely fabulous meal at Hide, my best during this trip to London. To begin with, Hide has a lovely bar in the basement floor. Really nice ambiance and great selection of top shelf liquor. Lively, but not overly crowded. We had dinner in the room on the top floor. Tables well spaced and a nice view of Piccadilly. Appetizers were all excellent but mine, the soft shell crab with a Thai green chile sauce was spectacular. The crab was crispy but not dry and the sauce had just the right amount of heat. The mains were also excellent. The halibut perfectly cooked with a nice sauce. I hit the jackpot with the loin rib of venison that was amazing. Cooked to the perfect temperature, with a killer juniper berry sauce. We just had one dessert, the quince tart, with an amazing crust and tasty small scoop of ice cream, which was the perfect accompaniment. Service was top notch and the wine list one of the best in London. Great range of selections, many of which are well aged. Sommelier was very, very knowledgeable and happy to assist. Just a great dining experience that I highly recommend.
Very cool restaurant with beautiful interiors and the food
Very cool restaurant with beautiful interiors and the food to go along with it. We went for brunch and ordered a couple of items below in the photos. And everything was excellent. We had the truffle eggs and toast which was good and also had the Croque Monsieur and added truffles. If I got the Croque Monsieur next time I don't think I would add the truffles though. It would be excellent without. I also had 2 cappuccino's one with the normal coffee and the other with a specialty coffee from Colombia and both were fantastic. The one from Colombia was a little stronger. Overall I would go back in a heartbeat to try more items. And try one of the other floors.
Another fantastic meal here.
This visit, the courses were timed perfectly without any long gaps in service. The wine pairings were excellent and nicely complemented the delicious food. I highly recommend Hide!
Hide is on the edge of Green Park.
It is a beautiful and novel setting with lots of wood. The lower bar is charming, somewhat chalet themed. The wine cellar down there is amazing and you can ask for a tour with the sommelier. We ate a variety of dishes, fish mostly which was served beautifully. It merits is Michelin Star.

Well. The place is beautiful. The food was spectacular. The charcuterie of meats was served on a slab of slate with thin cuts of cured lamb, duck, beef and pork. The mackerel tartare with a lovely gratinee that melted into a lovely sauce came on a smoking icy display of seaweed. Well done on the drama. The others that had the pasta and the scallop appetizers were wowed. Our mains: The John Dory was was wrapped in a thin zucchini flower. So delicate and beautiful with the pale orange and green veins enveloping a perfectly cooked piece of fish. The sauces complimented nicely too. The duck was delicious and the lamb amazing. Reports at the table gave the octopus two thumbs up. Everything was prepared to perfection. The desserts--omg! The banana milkshake with the crisp ice cream bites! The best best best was the warm acorn cake with a warm salted caramel sauce doused in a liqueur of your choice--we went with a delicious smoky mezcal. Very well done!! Now comes the "but." The service. It felt like a soft opening. No one but the female sommelier could get their act together. We sat 45 min before a waiter approached to take an appetizer order. Uh . . . How about cocktails???? We gently asked for a cocktail menu and wine list. They brought an I pad --one I pad for a table of 5. Well that took a while. We ordered some apps, enjoyed the delicious bread basket and olives and settled in. There was a big gap before dinner came, but we were ok. It's just that we had two servers serving us, so we did not know whom we asked for what. The som was professional, so helpful and lovely. She served red and white, apologized for the wrong glasses (really? Michelin star reviewer, did you not order wine? I felt her pain) and tracked down a cocktail that was ordered 30 minutes before (and brought two). The waiters dress like busboys and the busser/water refiller was in a suit (and super wonderful). A bit confusing at the start. So--go for the food and as my son said to me, "chill" and enjoy. But this NYer says someone called in sick. Also--no one came to the table to ask if things were good/cooked properly etc.
We had an amazing dinner at the Hide restaurant today.
From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the elegant uniqueness of the dining room. We were given a table in the upper room, so we got to use the beautiful wooden staircase. We started with a flat bread appetizer (amazing!), then I opted for deconstructed vegetable lasagna (to die for!) and my husband ordered their lamb dish (he loved it!). Our side dishes were broccoli with vinaigrette and baby potatoes- both side dishes were full of unique flavors and were very tasty. Our dessert was the blueberry cobbler with amazing homemade ice cream. The dessert was just as divine and the cherry flavored black tea was absolutely amazing. We were literally blown away by how amazing the Hide restaurant was.
Food was good but not amazingly good as I would've expected
Food was good but not amazingly good as I would've expected from a starred place. I had the duck which was good, and the signature nest egg, which was too umami for me. The service was also slightly disorganized for such an establishment.
As reassuringly expensive ( think £300/head for five
As reassuringly expensive ( think £300/head for five course tasting menu+ matched flight of wines) as you would want from a fashionable restaurant in Mayfair. The food varies from excellent to really very good. Service is friendly but precise- in particular I would commend the sommelier. She took care to answer all of our questions ( quite apart from doing a very good job). Design is also a big feature, from the architect Alex Haw's hallmark sweeping staircase, to the artful partial views into the kitchens. One to go to with someone you really like, particularly if someone else is paying.
Great staff and service.
Beautiful dining room and artfully plated dishes. The food was good, but sadly didn't match the level of it's surroundings. The flavors were boring. Had the soft shelled crab, lamb and elderflower baba. The crab needed more depth, the lamb was well made but tasted like lamb from any mediterranean restaurant and the flavors and texture of the baba didn't really mesh.
