The menu at Jitlada is so extensive! I love the Thai seafood dishes most and that there's a real kick. When you ask for spicy, it's not just doused in chili pepper but there are still all the other flavors of salty, sweet and acidic. Here are my favorite dishes:- Dungeness crab with garlic sauce: don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. There is so much flavor with the deep fried shell, garlic sauce, green onions, and black pepper. Served with a side of the green seafood spicy sauce! It remind me of Chinese or Vietnamese fried crab but spicier. - Mango tiger prawns: fresh sweet mango on top of grilled tiger prawns with head on. Don't be afraid to get dirty again and don't be shy to get all the juices out of the shrimp head. Ask for a side of the green seafood sauce for extra kick. - Southern Thai fried rice: also served with green seafood sauce (see a pattern here?? Heh). It's a little curry-ish and so flavorful but not over powered by coconut oil. I didn't enjoy the ox tail. It was a bit dry for me but I did like the egg noodles. We got 4 out of 5 spice level and I had to ask for extra pickled serrano peppers and jalapeños to get that extra kick. Dining at Jitlada is slow so make sure you have no plans. And the restaurant is small so be prepared to share conversation with neighboring tables. Prior to the pandemic, when you first walk in the door at Jitlada, the restaurant smelled spicy and felt fresh but now there is really good ventilation and no spicy air. I kind of miss that greasy feeling but am glad they likely upgraded the HVAC. I'm not sure what it is but I've dined here 5+ times and have never seen any families with young kids.
