Le Bibent Toulouse Reviews from The Last Year
A classic that is worth it.
Very friendly service, beautiful location and more than correct French food. It is worth it and the price is not crazy for the quality of the experience. The vegetable lasagna is especially good, although the foie with pear compote is also worth it.
Excellent !
A cuisine with great classics very well cooked (the mimosa egg is incredible! Yes, I assure you!) We're having a blast. The service is friendly and the setting is magnificent. In short, we had a great evening!
Simply excellent 😊
Simply excellent and top notch service! Thank you for this beautiful moment. Magnificent sea bream, tender langoustines, delicious delicacies served with coffee!
SAFE VALUE
Sure value. The living room is the basement room, this surprised us. We only knew the great room. Renewed dishes, well executed and good or very good. Pay attention to the quality of service, our server was really too familiar.
Good food and wines, friendly but slow service
The restaurant is on the edge of the capitole. The unterieur is exquisite and an eye to behold. Welcome was good and offered English or French menus. Starters of jambon noir and gravadlax were of a good portion and very tasty. Mains of 7 hour cooked lamb and special of beef were plentiful portion size and good taste. Desserts of infinity chocolate and millefeiulle were both delightful. Good choice of wines to accompany the meal. Friendly and efficient service although a tad slow.
Huge disappointment
We have eaten here many times before, both before and after the opera and always with great pleasure. I’m surprised that I haven’t reviewed it previously, as I would certainly have given it 4 or 5 stars on every occasion. But his time was different. And the reason, it seems, is a change of proprietor and chef. As we wanted a light, pre-theatre meal, we ordered two starters instead of starter and main, one of which was a Caesar Salad. This had always featured on the menu here as one of the restaurant’s “Incontournables” (Unbeatables) and it was indeed always the very best example of this classic that I’ve encountered. However, under the new regime it was one of the dullest and clumsiest plates of anything that I’ve ever struggled to finish: nothing but a vast mound of iceberg lettuce, some under seasoned chicken, an overcooked hardboiled egg and some Caesar dressing. The other dish, some trout Gravlax was better but nothing special compared to past delights here. On top of this, I checked when booking that the restaurant could accommodate a gluten-free diet (something which wasn’t an issue for me when I last came) and they assured me it was absolutely no problem. In ordering the salad I asked them to leave off any croutons, which they did but the Gravlax arrived literally covered with croutons. When I pointed this out, they simply took the plate away, scraped off the croutons and brought the now messy plate back again. I think they missed the lecture on cross-contamination at catering college! On top of this when it came to dessert, they announced that there was nothing whatsoever which was gluten-free. And obviously no question of any bread to balance the other courses. So much for “absolutely no problem”! Firmly off my list.
Standard of food does not match the stunning decor of the restaurant
We turned up at Le Bibent without having made a reservation and were offered seats at the bar whilst waiting for a table to become available. The main floor of the restaurant is a beautiful place to be and was really busy but unfortunately for us, no tables there became available and we were lead down a flight of stairs to another eating area, which although there was little to dislike, did not have the wow factor of the main restaurant and where only one other table was occupied by a single customer. We found prices to be reasonable for such a central location. My trout gravlax starter was fresh and tasty but my steak main course was disappointing. It was cooked rare as requested but the cut of meat was not tender and was contained too much fat. Both my wife’s and my own dessert were also disappointing and overall the standard of food did not match the location of the restaurant. The wine list offers a wide choice of local and not so local wines.
Delicious!!
While passing through Toulouse for the Slimane concert we stopped at this restaurant with its tempting menu. The welcome from a waiter was very warm, always attentive and very friendly. We ordered the langoustines and the perfect egg as a starter, quite simply a treat for the taste buds, and then the cassoulet and the leg of suckling lamb, again a delight. A bottle of Pessac Léognan to accompany everything which made the meal even better. However, the lamb juice was a little too salty, which the waiter immediately regretted and offered us a digestive. We recommend this restaurant with our eyes closed!! Thank you for this beautiful moment.
The eye eats with you
Here you eat with your eyes: the Bibent! A trip to Toulouse must include a visit to the legendary Bibent. The opulent interior alone is worth a visit. We enjoyed the traditional classic, a Cassoulet Toulousain. If you like hearty food, this is the right choice. The service was very friendly and courteous, and the evening in this ambience was a delight.
A visit to Toulouse is not complete without La Bibent.
Love coming for a drink or dinner and visited three times in a week. I came by myself and later with my husband and never felt out of place. Food is always wonderful and drinks made properly. The almonds served with drinks are addictive and somewhat legendary. Interior is breathtaking. Take advantage of their happy hour and afternoon tea special.
Very nice brewery
Very nice brasserie on the Capitol Square. It serves quality local cuisine. We particularly appreciate the sublime decor. The service was pleasant and attentive. The menu is not particularly varied for a brasserie, but there are plenty to choose from.
Very good but welcome and service to be reviewed
Mixed opinion because very well eaten (Easter lamb + millefeuille) in a magnificent setting in the heart of the city center, but, there is one but, not received or served as one might have expected and that, unfortunately, leaves a bad impression. While we are at the start of the service with only one table occupied and 6 members of staff at the counter, we are obliged to come forward to be taken care of. The rest is of the same order, no smile, a "it works" after we have given the choice of our dishes, etc etc. A lack of training is evident for these young employees.
Good food, great service
Some of the dishes were excellent, some were good. The French onion soup was one of the best I’ve ever had. The sea bass was exceptional. All other dishes were good. This is a solid restaurant in the heart of the city.
This restaurant is racist and the food is horrible.
We arrived 30 minutes before our reserved time. The entire restaurant was empty. The waitress led us to the back of the restaurant and to a table directly in front of the toilet/kitchen. We sat for 15 minutes and watched how every single customer was led to better tables located at the opposite section of the restaurant and far away from us. The same waitress came and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. I decided to play along and ordered still water. Throughout the entire lunch, we observed how tap water was placed on the tables once the customers sat down. Yet we were not offered tap water throughout the entire meal. When the bill came, I asked the waitress if there was special reason to sit us in front of the toilet when the entire restaurant was empty at the time. She did not say anything. I then told her that we usually gave tips. But since we had ordered the still water that she recommended, we would not leave any tips this time. We stayed in France for over 3 weeks during our trip. This was by far the worst food we had ever tasted. Both of us did not finish our dishes because the food was tasteless. Our conclusion was that the chef either deliberately cooked badly for us or his/her taste buds were badly damaged. The chef had to try very hard to make every single dish so bland. For customers with colored skins, take your money to elsewhere. You should be respected. For all other customers, there are many restaurants in Toulouse offering fantastic food at the same or better price. They are just 5-10 minutes walk away. Do not be fooled by the decoration. It is a tourist trap.
