Mamoun's Falafel - Greenwich Village, Manhattan, NY New York Reviews from The Last Year

There was a lot of hype behind this and I'd say for the most part it met it. I can't comment on the wraps, but at least for the plates, my biggest issue was just that the proportion of salad was too much. Otherwise, the rice was fine, and the falafel was actually quite good. Reasonably good value too I'd say, with wraps around $6-9, and plates $11-17 or so.
Still my favorite for a falafel sandwich and the variations.
Mamouns has managed to maintain its quality over many years and the expansion from the West Village location (which is still my favorite) has been successful which is rarely the case when establishments expand. It is a high quality "fast food" style-great middle Eastern food, a must go to.
I was in NYC and staying near Greenwich Village.
I had planned to walk into Minetta Tavern but fell asleep and woke up at around 10 p.m. By that time, I wasn't really in the mood for a big dinner, so I decided to grab a quick bite and walk around. As tempted as I was to go to my old faithful ... Prince Street Pizza, I wanted to try something different. Artichoke Pizza was on my list to try, but something about shawarma sounded good and Mahmoun's has been around since the 1970's, so it has to be decent, right? Maybe I ordered wrong because mine was terrible. As others have said ... cash only, which is annoying as Greenwich Village is rather short on reputable ATMs. I was rather surprised by the prices ... although in these days of crazy inflation, nothing really shocks me anymore. I read reviews from only a year ago, which said the sandwiches were $7 - $9. Mine was $12 ... and size-wise, it did not look like a $12 sandwich. It was absolutely loaded with uncooked onions. So many I could not pick them out and they completely overwhelmed the taste of anything else. I could barely taste the meat. The falafel was pretty potent ... I guess I cannot complain about that aspect because it had a nice, strong taste. After eating the very leaky and messy sandwich, which did not seem wrapped correctly (THEY PUT NO NAPKINS IN THE BAG!!! Cheap fuckers!) I was still pretty hungry. Given that the first sandwich wasn't that great, I wasn't about to buy another ... and a slice of Artichoke pizza seemed like a bad idea. Overall, this place is an institution, so likely some people (drunken NYU students?) seem to like it. Cranky staff ... cash only ... nowhere to sit ... no napkins. I would not come back. Maybe 20-year old taste buds are less developed ... but this seemed like overpriced crap to me and I'd much prefer street cart halal food.
Mamoun's Falafel in The Village is an iconic staple that
Mamoun's Falafel in The Village is an iconic staple that has been a family favorite for 20 years. Known as one of the original falafel spots, it offers the same amazing falafel that customers have loved for decades. Though the menu and locations have expanded over the years, the quality remains unchanged. The falafel is always fresh, perfectly crispy on the outside with a soft interior. The tahini and hot sauce are simple yet incredibly flavorful, adding the perfect finishing touch to each dish. A sandwich used to be about $3, now with inflation now costs around $10, but it's still a consistently good and satisfying meal. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer, Mamoun's Falafel is a must-visit for delicious Middle Eastern cuisine in The Village.
Good spot for a quick bite!
Good hole-in-the-wall falafel place. Simple, no frills, good food. Macdougal street is really cool, a few other nice spots for cheap food......used to be look better before they added the outdoor tents, they really break up the vibe. Maybe if they disappear once the weather improves. Falafel was solid, but a little too messy and the hummus was a bit too runny. Overall: 3.5/5
Nice spot worth a visit in a meat/carb intensive city
Myself leaving in the middle east for last decade I can tell its not lebanese food nor syrian food at all (despite the origin of the founder). It is more a very well inspired food from middle east with cross over the entire region for example the tabbouleh is closer to a turkish boulgour tabbouleh rathder than the very green syrian/lebanese tabbouleh. Falafels are less brown than a normal lebanese ones. We dont use pits bread in syria but its more greek..etc Kebab is with an A not an O :D as written on their menu However, to my surprise, the food is delicious! Really fresh and tasty. It was a relief after days of eating burgers and hot dogs. If like me you are wondering when it is possible to eat vegetables in NyC this place is a nice stop to make. Amazing for vegan people too. I left with hot sauce gift for my friends too as i was crying only having a tear of it on my falafel And last but not least service is fast and the waiter was super nice and friendly
Amazing!
Absolutely loved this place! Such perfectly cooked falafel with spectacular seasoning! Even my young sons, who are picky eaters, enjoyed it!
Their baba ganaouj was unique - it had a smoky taste.
We ordered a medium, but it came with a bag of like 6 pita which surprised us. No complaints for receiving more pita bread! I ordered their falafel plate. Falafel was fine, but it wasn't terribly memorable. Their baklava was super sweet. I like that they are open late and have affordable pricing. Overall decent experience for takeout. Can't speak much on service or ambiance, only the food.
Fast and happy ppl service.
Good food at great price. Ordered macdougal and pistachios falafel along with tea. Amazing combo to perfection
There's always a line and for good reason.
Classic falafel crisp on the outside and moist inside just like my grandmas
This place is legendary.
For all the right reasons. The best falafel sandwiches in the world.
Best place for authentic falafel.
Nothing fancy just great falafel. Order and go, no siting around. Quick meal
I grabbed lunch here on a Tuesday afternoon.
I got a falafel plate: falafel served on a large salad with tahini sauce and pita. It was around $9.50 without tip. A lot of my friends really love Mamoun's, and I thought it was decent. I think the sandwiches are likely the way to go here, as they're only about $6.
Great food! Loved the shawarma.
Did not have the falafel. Great spot right on McDougal in NYC. The shawarma meat had something like nutmeg, cinnamon on it - WOW. This made the plate. The hummus was great, pita fresh, and typical service without a smile. I loved it. The place is literally a hole in the wall so, if you plan on sitting, you will have to be one of the lucky 4 that fit in the spot.
Best lamb Shawarma
Went here last week for a quick bite Consistently the Best lamb shawarma in NYC Hummus is great too

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Yes unfortunately they are finding more and more ways to lock up sellers money. Sell thru rate, refund rate, limiting withdrawal amounts ler day and per month (which for me are the same number which makes no sense). Lot of sellers leaving as you can see from the lifetime sales not really increasing. Most posts on here are frustrated sellers which is not a recipe for success

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
