Very good
Nice hotel in the middle of Times Square. We were worried that it would be so noisy from both the hotel guests inside and all the traffic and activity outside but we were pleasantly surprised how little you could hear at night and we enjoyed a good night’s sleep every night we were there (6 nights). We were on the 23rd floor. Really disappointed the restaurant on the top floor was closed for renovation as that was one of the reasons we booked in the first place. The other restaurants (Broadway Lounge and Rye) are a bit confusing as they are flagged as being 2 separate restaurants but they both serve the same food and drink and are essentially the same restaurant other than slightly different seating areas. The food is reasonably priced but the drinks are very expensive it I suppose it is Times Square. Very nice hotel and we didn’t encounter any issues. The beds are lovely and comfy, lots of different pillows so hopefully you get one you like, they come in and clean every day (I’ve seem some reviews saying the hotel is dirty but that wasn’t my experience; it was lovely and clean) and overall a good hotel base.
Be the first to ReplyDirty hotel!!!!!! Gross!!!!!!
Dirtiest hotel in NYC! Checked in 10’hours ago, called down to guest services to clean my room 3 times which is full of hair in the bathroom, carpet full of dirt and past guests stuff, and gross stuff on the nightstands. Looking at carpet now and it looks like the floor of penn station. Problem is that I called 3 times and nobody did anything to fix the problem. There is really no difference from spending the night at this hotel or sleeping at penn station for the night. I just called the front desk again….no help or housekeeping sent up. Do not stay at this hotel if you don’t want to be grossed out from the past guest dirt and stuff in the room. Dirty hotel!!!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat location, large rooms.
This hotel is in a great location for sightseeing in Times Square and midtown Manhattan. Of course, there are lots of options for transportation to locations in upper and lower Manhattan as well. Rooms are large and well-equipped by NYC standards. Hotel is well-maintained and has good security. The restaurants/bar are very convenient, as well as the Starbucks on the ground floor and the quick serve bakery/deli (with Starbucks coffee) located in the gift shop on the 8th floor. The housekeeping of our room was top-notch. We really enjoyed our stay.
Be the first to ReplyNice location, well known hotel but it's a very old property.
This was just a one night stay, and they have some very nice staff and amenities, but this place really needs some work. I know NYC is expensive, but for $460 there are some things I shouldn't have had to deal with that I did. Check in was easy, relatively speaking but I got to my room and the card provided didn't open the door (neither key worked). I called from a house phone, as I was under an urgent time crunch to get in the room and make a meeting online, but no one answered. I went back to the line and the person whose only job seems to be to direct traffic to a line 2 feet in front of me, essentially didn't care at all and told me I had to get back in line, which was now 10 deep. Interestingly enough, there were two others in front of me who had the same issue. 8-10 minutes later, I did make it up to my room. The room was very nice, and I was barely able to make my meeting. An hour later, I had a dinner to attend, and wanted to put things in the safe. I followed the instructions, but when I double checked the combination, the door was stuck shut and wouldn't open. Now in full panic mode, I did call from my room and someone was able to come up in 5 minutes (which was very nice) and get the stuck door to open. He told me I could use the safe, but I just laughed and said "thanks but no thanks". He said many of these have to be replaced, much like a lot of things in this hotel. Sleeping later that night is very tricky and I wish I had brought my white noise machine as the ear plugs I had were no match for Times Square on a Tuesday night. I may have slept 5-6 hrs due to the noise and constant horn blowing, which is a NYC tradition. In the morning I went to use the gym, which had a lot of equipment, but unfortunately the rowing machine shown in their photos was nowhere to be found. They had a different option, but not what I was looking for. They do have two peloton bikes, but only one was working. Not optimal, but it happens. There was no employee at the desk to ask questions to, so I just did what I could in 45 minutes and was on my way to breakfast. The hotel charges you 40 a night for something (it's a ridiculous charge candidly) plus tax, so they encourage you to eat breakfast in the hotel because you are getting charged the $48 regardless. Unfortunately, the line for breakfast at the only place that would honor the charge was 15 deep at 10:20am, and with checkout time at 11, I was running out of options. Fortunately the service, once seated was outstanding, and so I ordered french toast (3 half slices), bacon (4 nice slices) and a fruit cup, which came out to $38 before tip. My goodness. NYC is expensive, but that is ridiculous. Checkout was easy, and I found that I had paid the bill other than the $48 three weeks ago, so it wasn't as painful as it might be otherwise. Nice place, in a good location but it really needs a lot of work in some areas.

Pleasant welcome, the rest is deplorable. At the bar I pay for my consumption by credit card, the waiter leaves with my card in a reserve, he comes back and informs me that to cash my bill I need the bank card pin code. Honestly, who is he going to make believe this? A most dismal luggage storage service, aggressive staff. A shame !!!
Be the first to ReplyDream Hotel Experience Come Trueee!
Staying at the Marriott Marquis New York was an absolute dream come true! Having seen this iconic hotel everywhere, my expectations were high—and I'm delighted to say they were exceeded in every way. The location couldn't have been better, right in the heart of Times Square. Being surrounded by New York's vibrant energy was exhilarating. What made my visit truly unforgettable was the included New York attraction experience. The opportunity to visit the American Museum of Natural History and enjoy a free cruise tour to see the Statue of Liberty was incredible! It's an experience that's hard to move on from </3 The hotel staff were exceptional—warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist. From check-in to check-out, everything was seamless. I will definitely come back!!! <3
Be the first to ReplyGreat location and helpful concierge
Check-in: Separate line for Elite Bon Voy members to save time. We appreciated the warm welcome and was assigned a room on higher floor with view of Times Square. Concierge: Tom was extremely helpful in assisting my family prepare our itinerary for the 2 days we were in the city. He helped us with grouping our activities by location, and giving us tips on to use the subway. He made a huge difference on this trip. Location: Heart of Times Square and across from many theaters! It is a busy area but we loved the energy as first time visitors. The subway station was 5-10 mins walking distance. Like any big city, best to be aware of your surroundings. Room: Larger than average NYC rooms which is why we selected this hotel. Clean and we loved the view.
Be the first to ReplyDestination fee is an extra "upcharge" that is you don't expect or understand, so beware!
First of all, the walls are paper thin. We should be charged $400 a night to hear our neighbors talk, snore, or their cell phone alarm go off in the morning. BEWARE of the "destination fee" process! When you book, it is noted that you will owe roughly $34/day as a "destination fee". When you arrive, they hand you a little card and say that you can have up to $40 to spend in the hotel at restaurant, gift, shop. They make it sound like a gift/freebie that will be charged to your room and then cancelled out (i.e. to cover a sort of continental breakfast you would expect at a hotel). Well, no, it is $40 plus $5 tax per day charged to your room whether you use it or not. When you go to breakfast to "use" the $40, the buffet is $42 and it is per person not per room. If you go over $40 it is charged extra to your room, plus tax. And it is NOT cumulative, so if you don't spend $40 on one day you cannot use it towards the total. Even the hotel rep checking us out said it is a "controversial" process that hotels are doing, and that news channels are covering it as such.
Be the first to ReplyPat and Sue Stole the Show
The hotel location is sick! You walk out into Time Square and the life of the city. Pat and Sue made the stay wonderfundal! They checked me and my team in and made check in seamless. The check in line was super long so they took all 8 of us at once....AMAZING! Pat and Sue's smiles stole the show! We felt their smiles when they smiled at us:). They explained the layout of the hotel and made our long day of travel worth it. Keep smiling Pat!! Keep smiling Sue!! The elevator situation is a bit sad. There are over 30 floors and you have to use your hotel key to find which elevator goes to your floor. The wait is not great. If you have to get back to your room quickly, it just isn't going to happen. The Concierge desk was friendly and knowledgeable. My room had a spectacular view out to Time Square and you could see the Hudson! The space for Innovative School Summit was very nice. The refreshments during the conference was a nice feature.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hotel in the heart of Times Square
We visit this hotel every year in December to experience Christmas in NYC. It’s always so beautifully decorated. Comfortable rooms, good service. It’s always busy but the staff is friendly. We eat at the restaurant in the main lobby and enjoy drinks at the bar.
Be the first to ReplyYou can have it all with this hotel--Glitz but a sanctuary for quiet in one's own room
Right in the middle of Times Square and the Broadway Shows, this hotel exudes energy with bustling crowds, lots of glitz, and views of the frenetic outdoor scenes. Yet the rooms and hallways can be quiet (except when you're given a room that has a door to an adjoining room which can be noisy). Housekeeping was excellent, and personnel very friendly.

Great central location clean and comfortable although the beds in our room were only doubles. On our interaction with the reception staff they were a little rude and unhelpful and gave us a different answer when we asked three different people the same question.
Be the first to ReplyGreat position!
Great position in Times Square - close to everything! Rooms are huge with stunning views! Large hotel with plenty of amenities. Large dining area and a gym. Breakfast menu was great! Apparently it's fantastic for New Years Eve - they have a party for guests (payable) - min stay is two nights for the NY.
Be the first to ReplyWe love it here
This is our 3rd time at the Marriott marquis. My kids refuse to stay anywhere else as we always get great service. The rooms are impeccably clean ( I am ocd when it comes to hotel rooms) this place never disappoints me. The cleaning team does a great job! The elevators are the highlight for my kids! I had messaged the staff about an event for one of my kids and we walked in to a very sweet note along with a box of goodies. Thank you and we will be forever be Marriott marquis members.
Be the first to ReplyNo service after midnight. It caused mental anxiety, physical pain and stress. Not a holiday you pay for.
- No room service after midnight. - We asked for adjacent rooms, we were told the system cannot change bookings. - No welcome note in the room. - No free water. - No Free Wifi 16$ daily. - No personalized message on your tv screen. - Shower start cold before getting to warm - No bidet. - They offer 3 kinds of Water dispenser in the lobby with lime, cucumber or lemon—don’t drink it, caused us a day of going to the toilet multiple times. - The Guards in the ground floor, demand for your key cards even with so much shopping bags in your hands just to enter the lift. But won’t bother to help you with your things. - Smokers greet you as you exit the hotel. Since marijuana is legal in the city, it smells so bad it will make your clothes stink. - Considering their clients are from all over the world No halal meals offered, no Asian cuisine.
Be the first to Reply$30 Hotel Fee sinking this ship
the new policy of charging an additional hotel fee of $30 is just a ploy to force you to spend money at the hotel, very ill advised an may finally be the breaking point for Bonvoy membership. The policy states that it helps pay for enhanced internet connection. My experience says otherwise, couldn't host a google meet in my room or the M Club. My two last experiences with Marriott Hotels, Here and Copley Center, Boston remind me of being in a resort for children. I would strongly recommend prospective guests to evaluate the forced $30 hotel fee before making your final decision
Be the first to ReplyNYC Marriott Marquis Absolutely Sucks!
As an Ambassador with Marriott and Diamond Member with Hilton, The Marriott Marquis was awful. With over 1,000 nights spent in hotels, I have never experienced such arrogant, rude, uninformed and disrespectful staff, specially the front desk and M Club. The property is unkempt and the rooms need an overhaul. I also contacted the property regarding a disputed charge (I wasn’t at the property the day the charge posted) and they did nothing about it. In turn, I contacted Marriott Ambassador Services and they also confirmed how rude the staff was. The dispute was never resolved however, Marriott in good faith provided 100k points to offset the dispute and disrespectful behavior. This place absolutely sucks!!!! Two thumbs down!!! Finally- This is the first negative review I have ever posted in the 8 years I’ve been traveling for business/personal.
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous and well run with only a few annoying hiccups
Just returned from 3 days and 2 nights at the New York Marriott Marquis. The hotel was gorgeous and well run with only a few annoying hiccups. Check-In We walked up to the hotel from Moynihan Hall at Penn Station and it was a bit of a hike with luggage. You could also access the hotel entrance numerous ways so it was a little confusing at first walkup. We arrived at 11:15am and had previously been told on the phone that an early check in is not guaranteed but almost always accommodated. Unfortunately because we had the connector rooms, ours were not ready yet. We were able to leave our luggage with the valet/bell dept. and felt very secure with that so we could venture out and start exploring while we waited. (Side note-the lobby restrooms were immaculate). I received a text a couple of hours later letting us know that the room was ready so we headed back to get ready for our dinner reservations and 8pm show. Once arriving back I received my room keys promptly and they asked how many I wanted, there was not a limit of 2 like I had read previously. The bell dept. used a trolley to bring up all of our luggage and were so friendly. He was actually confused about our room because they were new and used to be part of the concierge department but were just recently renovated. (We also never needed a key to enter the main entrance of the hotel-the rotating doors were open even when we came back at midnight, but there were always security guards there. You did require a key to call for the elevators for any floor other than the ground floor at street level or the 8th floor with check-in and restaurants.) The rooms I booked the adjoining/connector room via the Marriott website and it was just supposed to be a king size bedroom and a 2 doubles bedroom with an adjoining door. We had our own private hallway off of the main hallway for our 2 rooms-which was so nice! The rooms we received were so far superior to any photo that I had seen online-we were all shocked by these gorgeous rooms! They were on the 30th floor and were spacious with large bathrooms. The mattress was unbelievably comfortable as were the 4 pillows. The duvet was VERY lightweight though, so I looked for an extra blanket-but the extra fleece blanket in the top of the closet had human hair stuck to it-so I opted not to use it. If it wasn't 1am I would have called down for another, but I survived lol. The bathroom floors had adjustable radiant heat, which was luxurious. The heating system throughout the room worked beautifully. The lighting was definitely on the dim side-especially in the bathroom if you're trying to do makeup. The towels were soft and plentiful, but the hotel provided toiletries had a very strong herbaceous smell that none of us cared for. Both alcoves that held the beds had floor to ceiling curtains that would be drawn to block out the sun. Also, there was a switch plate in each room to allow the large atrium windows to be fogged for privacy. We didn't use the coffee makers, but the mini fridges were helpful for leftovers and bottle waters. There was a nice hanging closet and an in room safe in both rooms as well as multiple floor to ceiling mirrors. The hotel There is a secret area behind the curtains on the 7th floor that had soda and snack vending machines. We never would have found them without asking. Waters were $3.75 as were snickers. (Ouch) The restaurants and cafe are also on the 8th floor along with the city excursion people and the bell dept. The gift shop/cafe was adorable and had a huge selection of pre-packaged foods and salads and snacks and drinks, plus a lot of typical gift shop items. This is where I was frustrated. 1. The 8th floor cafe (located inside the gift shop) The hotel charges a $30 per night resort fee, but you are also credited $30 per night for hotel incidentals that can be used in the cafe/room service/restaurants etc... which makes this fee more palatable. We were told that the credit could be used for coffee, etc... in their hotel gift shop/cafe on the 8th floor, but that it did not apply to the Starbucks on the first floor street level. I went in on our first morning to get bagels and coffee and the man behind the cafe counter was rude and rushed us (only 1 person behind us that was already being helped) and told us they were out of a few things when we were literally looking at them in the case in front of us. Then I proceeded to tell him that I wanted to charge it to my room and he said, "the hotel credit doesn't work here" and I told him I thought that was only at Starbucks downstairs and he told me "no, it doesn't apply here either." So I paid for it instead since I had the cash on me. I wish I kept the receipt because it was disgusting. The 2 bagels were hard and not toasted and the 2 spinach and egg white sandwiches were bland and dry and didn't have the cheese I requested and paid for. This ended up being a big disappointment. Not only because I was out that money, but also because I was depending on this place for my morning coffee/breakfast during my trip and I did NOT want to deal with this guy again. I found out when I was checking out that what he said was NOT true, and that I should have charged it to my room and he didn't know what he was talking about. $61.00 later, lesson learned. 2. The NY City Experts concierge service in the lobby. I knew when booking that we were going to receive 1 complimentary ticket per night (2 total) that could be used towards a local attraction or tour. The exact details were very vague and most attractions require reservations, so I needed to get more details. The Marriott corporate customer service could not help me here, so I had to call a bunch of times to finally be able to get a person at the actual hotel. They were not able to give me a definitive answer either and referred me directly to the subcontracted company that works out of their lobby offering these excursions. They even emailed me a copy of the flyer that the tour company gives out that contained their direct phone number as well as their in house extension. For 6 weeks, I called multiple times a week at different times of their operating hours and nobody ever picked up and there was no voicemail. I was obviously aggravated because I wanted to utilize this great incentive that the Marriott offers to entice more bookings. After 6 weeks of no contact I just figured I'd have to wing it when I got there and could talk to them. Well..... Good luck to you with that! When they were actually open there was always a substantial line that moved SO slowly. I saw the same people in the same line for almost 40 minutes with no line progress. Who has time to wait that long? I was never able to get our 2 tickets and feel that this was more of a ploy by the hotel to get people to book. If they can't staff the department appropriately to deal with the benefits they promise- then they should not be offering it.
Be the first to ReplyReserve and Pay Later? Not True at this Place! FRAUDS!
Interesting how this hotel charges my credit card for a reservation that I have in April, didn’t know doing this was a thing outside of intentionally paying for prepaid which usually results in a discount…. Thank you for making my decision to stay elsewhere easy, dispute coming up as well. Future hotel guest watch your credit card transaction, looks like their team will try and pull a fast one if your not monitoring your account.

Titanium member, arrived late afternoon. Check in was quick, staff was friendly. We had two queens on 38th floor overlooking Time Square. Excellent location and view. Massive hotel and elevator system. Hotel food was delicious. M club was the best I’ve ever seen. Outstanding breakfast offerings and large rooms for seating. We attended a banquet dinner in conference rooms which was beautiful and food delicious. Room was comfortable, the beds and pillows were excellent. Would definitely stay here again.
Be the first to ReplyDecent property but poor management communications
Despite being a well located, decent property, this Titanium guest, wife and twins felt poorly served. We flew in from Europe and stayed a few days. When other friends flew in, arriving after our checkout date, I requested an extension and was told "not possible, no way even with an elite guest push". We were compelled to commit to a move. On departure day, my wife had a high fever and we were going to be challenged to move. When I called for a late checkout, I was told that we were not departing for anther two days. When I asked for an explanation, they had none. We stayed but had to eat a cancellation bigger than the nights we also had to buy. Not cool and I have not had anyone we know or work with stay there since.
Be the first to ReplyFamily Trip to NYC
My family (2 adults and 1 toddler) stayed at the property over President’s weekend. I’ve visited this property a few times in the past for conferences and meetings but this was our first time staying onsite and it did not disappoint. Everything from valet to the check in process was seamless. Geraldine at the front desk was a true highlight of the trip. She greeted us with a genuine and warm smile and was so kind to accommodate our request for a high floor room with a view. The room was spacious for New York and had all the creature comforts you could want. The fitness center was large with many cardio machines, 3 peloton bikes and lots of weight options. We did not eat our meals in the hotel, but the cafe was great for quick snacks and coffee. Only thing we wish was a little more seamless was the elevator experience. Make sure you have everything you need when leaving your room because it can take anywhere from 5 to 10 mins to get an elevator. Overall we enjoyed the accommodations and it’s great central location and look forward to visiting again.
Be the first to ReplyGreat stay in the heart of Time Square
We spent 4 nights with a great view of Times Square. We requested and we’re given an upgraded room. We’ve stayed at this hotel a few times and this was one of the better stays. The room was comfortable and the black out curtains worked well. I was happy to see the change to refillable bottles of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. The body lotion is lovely and the lavender pillow spray was a nice addition. We utilized the excellent workout facility a few times. The $30 daily resort fee was spent on evening drinks, breakfast, and small bites on different days. Can’t beat the location and if you’re on a higher floor noise is not an issue. One outstanding employee is Renata who provided our housekeeping services. I’ve never felt the need to mention someone by name but she was, like I said outstanding.
Be the first to ReplyTaker not a giver
The hotel is nice. It was clean and we only found 2 hairs in the shower. I stayed at the Marquis for one night after a night at the Conrad NY Downtown. There are no frills with this place, no robes, no slippers just a bed. They have refillable dispensers for shampoo and soap. Also the front desk is very comfortable not accommodating requests and saying NO or making you feel as though you inconvenienced them. All while not being good at their job. They desk agent asked for lots of info while not accurately noting my Bonvoy info so I had to spend time following up to resolve the matter. The good: Ample outlets at the desk station for you to plug up all of the equipment you may travel with if you’re teleworking. The room is spacious and you are able to spread out. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is modern. The hotel is in the middle of Times Square and convenient to the theatre district. I did not hear any street noise in my room on the 23rd floor and the entrance wasn’t crowded with people. The bad: Marriott doesn’t recognize domestic partnerships. I made the reservation for our trip using my Bonvoy number and my partner (a titanium elite) was coming in later. They wouldn’t allow me to use his benefits until he arrived. Marriott should consider having the option of adding names to an account.
Be the first to ReplyBeware of the Bathroom
The hotel lobby was exquisite and the elevator ride was delightful. Finally when my family and I opened the door to our hotel room we were greeted with a large floating log in the toilet, we quickly flushed it and I will say that is one powerful flush. The view from the room into time square was remarkable and just iconic. Though upon further inspection of the room the blankets weren’t clean and the alarm clock was still set for 6:00 which woke me and my entire family up. I would rate a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
