Ormer Mayfair Restaurant London Reviews from The Last Year
Unforgettable
Wow! Dining at Ormer was an exceptional experience. The food and flavours were extraordinary, leaving a lasting impression. The lamb dish was π€πΎ. The atmosphere was perfect, creating a wonderful dining experience. The service was attentive, professional, yet warm and friendly. Overall, it was just perfect!
Amazing place - highly recommended
We had the 7 course tasting menu. Starting with 3 appetizers that were to die for followed by a fantastic menu. All courses were super tasty and the prestige wine menu was a perfect match. Not the usual wine paring that I am not normally too fund of but great match out of the ordinary. The service was extraordinary as well. All in all - highly recommended - we will be back!
The best
10/10 Ormer is a winner. If this is not two-star cookery, what is? The plethora of below reviews serve the same purpose as mine; to convey quite what an experience Ormer is. This was, no doubt, the very best meal of my life. Start to finish. Excellent canapΓ©s, packed with flavour, followed by what I can only describe as a flurry of impeccable cooking. Ham jelly - who knew?! Lamb, for me, was knockout - the dish was so cohesive, so well executed, cuisson perfect, served with the most delicious side dish of all time. I shall not spoil it - it truly must be eaten to be believed. What of the service? Also excellent. Service is something Iβm a stickler for; being by yourself makes you all the more prone to the awkward gaps between courses, and more alert to poor or disinterested service. Impeccable service, literally top tier, can be found at Adams in Bham - I quite literally measure the quality of any other place against their offering. Ormer matches it. From such warmth to asking about where I work, to matching my passion for cooking, to showing me into the kitchen, all of these things were conducive to what I might go so far as to say was the best meal of my life. How lucky am I - 20 years old and still many more places to visit, but Ormer is one I shall certainly return to. A final thought - peach iced tea pre dessert - genius! My thanks to the whole team, and of course most of all to Sofian.
Phenomenal restaurant in Mayfair
Outstanding restaurant. My husband and I ordered the tasting menu (one regular, the other vegetarian) together with the wine pairing. We had seven courses and every dish was phenomenal. We also indulged in the cheese serving. The size of the dishes were just right and the flavours were outstanding. I couldnβt pick a favourite. Our sommelier was a real character, full of interesting stories and humour. Lastly, the price was unbelievable for the quality. We had a fantastic evening and will definitely return!
Culinary perfection and a perfect evening
The ambience is beautifully relaxed and intimate. The service is warmly welcoming and quietly, superbly efficient. The food is spectacular. We had the five course tasting menu with wine pairings. Every course was perfect, imaginative, complex and super tasty. And the sommelier, Peter, was in a class of his own: helpful, deeply informed and wonderfully entertaining. This was one of the best meals weβve ever had. And amazing value.
Delicious Food
I was fortunate to be invited to a business dinner at this restaurant. The restaurant is through the hotel lobby and at the back of the building. We were blessed to dine in the private dining room, just off the main restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the wine was sensational. The photos that you see in the corridor are specially commissioned for the restaurant.
Luxury cuisine, was the most perfect I have tasted
We had an amazing and luxury indulgent dinner here, the culinary expertise of the chef just overall complemented the beautiful taste of the food and tried 2 beef dishes accompanied with a red whine. We both thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and are definitely exhilarated to return back here. Thanks very much
A must!
Had the seven course tasting menu. Superb food, perfect wine suggestions, incredible service and great ambience. Would highly recommend!
Absolutely delightful food and excellent service with fabulous attention to detail
From start to finish, the 7 course taster menu was delightful. Each and every course brought together the individual elements which offered a range of textures and temperatures, and where every ingredient brought its own flavour yet worked together in absolute harmony. Absolutely deserving of its Michelin star!
Wine Terroir Inspired Delights and Gastronomic Gem
Nestled discreetly within Mayfair, this gastronomic gem offers exceptional value and experiential richness. The Wine List is a journey through terroirs and varietals, guided by the thoughtful Sommelier, Peter. His expertise transformed sips into symphonies of flavor with the dessert pairing being exquisitely notable! We also decided to upgrade to the Cheese Trolley with Stefano as a delightful encore, showcasing his encyclopedic knowledge and impeccable presentation it was divine. From the initial greeting to the final farewell, every moment was crafted with meticulous care and attention. Dining here was a sensory voyage of meaning and intention, where each bite and sip left an indelible memory. In a city brimming with many awarded offerings, this restaurant stands as a beacon of distinction. Secure your reservation before this culinary and intimate little haven becomes too hard to get in!
Utterly Brilliant
The Best. No other way to describe the quality of Ormer right now. It saddens me that the restaurant wasn't full because I know a lot of other one Michelin starred restaurants that get that accolade for no good reason and aren't a patch on here. Anyway, the meal this evening was seven courses and every single course, plus canapΓ©s, bread, cheese and petit four, were stunning. There wasn't a weak dish in the entire degustation. Service is sublime with hugely professional interaction and they remember you from previous visits. I love it here and can happily recommend it over a few two and three starred establishments in London. Seven courses with optional cheeses and Champagne, half bottle of Chateauneuf-du-pape and tea, came to Β£300 a head. For Mayfair, frankly anywhere, this is stunning food and value. A destination restaurant if ever there was one.
Top Quality Restaurant Deserves Their Star
Fantastic restaurant that deserves it's newly awarded Michelin Star. I've eaten at Ormer a few times over the last couple of year but they have really upped their game. The quality of the food was exceptional, we had the 5 course tasting menu, which was fantastic. The cost of the tasting menus is very reasonable, well below other restaurant which aren't as good.
UNFORGETTABLE MAGICAL DINING EXPERIENCE
Ormer Mayfair absolutely deserves its Michelin Star and more β¦. Truly. The dining experience, preparation and presentation of its exquisitely divine food is heavenly. Created by a talented team of professionals. The service is warm, friendly and incredibly well informed. From the start to the end, my birthday dinner was magical and faultless. Their cheese trolley is one of the best in London, with around 20 different cheeses to decide upon. Very, very rarely do I ever go overboard on writing such a glowing review. But very, very rarely do you get anything close to such a perfect dining experience as that of Ormer Mayfair. Iβm giving Ormer Mayfairβs competitors a big nudge here ! A very big thanks to the whole team for a wonderful evening .
Excellent restaurant, food and service - plus value for money
The best * Michelin restaurant we have been to this year (compared to Portland, Trinity, Pied a Terre which were all nice but not quite as delicious)! The food deserves ** and the service was attentive, friendly and unobtrusive. Can highly recommend! Also good value for money: five 7-course tasting menus, a bottle of Pouilly Fussee, two glasses of red, a cocktail, two teas came to Β£841 (incl. 12.5% service charge).
A star restaurant in Mayfair
We had booked well in advance, but on this Thursday evening there were several vacant tables. Very fine welcome in the restaurant, nice people to serve you - but some of them so low and quickly speaking so it can be difficult for non-native English speaking guests to get hold of everything. Food very fine - but the first courses in their tasting menu are very small - and later on the potions are perhaps too large (the desert for example) - I think this should be changed somewhat. We had a very fine rosΓ© from Kent - an interesting experience.
Fantastic experince and meal
My wife had Ormer on her list of restaurants to visit and we're glad she did. We had a great experience last night. We decided to go with the 7-course tasting menu and it didn't disappoint, the food was fantastic as was the service. We spoke to the sommelier about the wine flight, but as neither of us likes sweet wine, he suggested we go with a bottle and then a separate glass with the lamb, which worked out perfectly. I didn't get his name, but he was extremely helpful and informative. All-in-all it was a really enjoyable evening.
Simply amazing - well worth its Michelin star and one of the best restaurants in London!
Amazing food, fantastic wines and superb service from a dedicated team which comes together to make for a memorable evening. Having recently earned their first Michelin star, the team at Ormer are going from strength to strength. The restaurant is in a great location in the middle of Mayfair but tucked away on a quiet street which means you get the best of both worlds. Reasonably priced for such a high quality restaurant and very highly recommend.
Exceptional Meal
I've not been back to Ormer since Shaun Rankin was Chef, but now there's Sofian Msetfi as Executive Chef. Have to say though, I liked my meal very much last time I came, this time I loved it. The welcome is friendly and the attention paid by all is very high, particularly from the Sommelier who chose some great accompanying glasses of wine rather than a full on wine flight. The menu is tasting (5 or 7 courses) only and consists of: Waldorf, Warm ibΓ©rico ham jelly, Cured Cornish mackerel, Milk-fed Pyrenees lamb and Tuma yellow mille-feuille. All courses were excellent, I particularly loved the Lamb which came with a foam covered, pulled lamb side and gorgeous jus. The flavours were singing across each plate, with a stunning dessert to finish. Along with some delicious canapΓ©s, bread, petit four and cheese trolley, the meal was exceptional. Presentation was beautiful, with fine attention to detail throughout and great service. Couldn't fault the meal at all. For this five course degustation (Β£79), Optional cheeses, Champagne, wine and coffee, the total bill was a smidge over Β£200. For a Michelin starred restaurant in Mayfair, this is bloody good value frankly and a definite must for all foodies. I'll be back soon.
So special, excellent price, and such passion.
I'd never heard of this spot till the Michelin star and the rave reviews, and I feel like I've now found a London secret. Ormer is in the basement of Fleming's Hotel, and such a treasure. We went on a weeknight, and there were couples and quite a few diners eating alone, which is great to see...because why should you have to wait for a friend to join for a fabulous meal? I want to do that too. Life's too short. Anyway, for 79 quid for five courses, the selects were incredible. The service was warm...like a family, full of passion. Definitely add on the wine pairing - the somm is very knowledgeable and plucks some great bottles for you to try. I like that he really listened to our needs and preferences. They paired perfectly. I also liked the bar area too. Overall such a gorgeous experience and at a fair price. What a night, thank you team for making us feel so special.
Excellent
Ormer is a real hidden gem, and a great place for dinner is a really good, plush setting with really fantastic , professional staff. There is no loud music like you get in some restaurants where it's impossible to hear the person sitting next to you. Its dimly lit and tastefully fitted out and would appeal to sensible diners with manners, but sadly we did see some unmannered diners just taking photo after photo after photo of their food. The lights from their cameras were distracting but that's not the fault of Ormer, but a reflection of the poor manners of the diners. The restaurant has spaciously laid out tables, not close to one another like in some restaurants, and there are some areas in a booth style settings. I would describe it as sumptuous. The food (including 3 sets of canapes and petit fours) could not be faulted and the staff took time to explain the dishes in our tasting menu, which was in some instances, educational. Notable dishes, the Turbot from the 7 course menu, the crumble which is finished off with liquid nitrogen (be careful as its super cold!). Ormer is a real gem, truly magnificent.
one of the best in london
There are several prerequisites for an enjoyable meal out in London or indeed anywhere ese , the greeting , the room setting , the food -Ormer scores a 10 in each category . The greeting here is exceptional , other restaurants take note , you are welcomed ,the food is exceptional , the room is almost perfectly lit , the service is outstanding . So a great evening preceded by a drink in their bar manettas which is a lovely place to have a pre dinner drink , not too big , almost cosy , very smart . A paean of praise for ormer restaurant and its bar-well deserved
Culinary wonderland
You will feel welcome from the moment you step into the building. The staff are genuinely exceptional! It was my first time at Ormer, last night, but certainly not the last. The service was a perfect choreography. The 7-course pescatarian menu, a delightful way of discovering the Chef's talent. Every dish was a savoury combination of textures, and explosion of flavours. Bravo!
