Restaurante Palacio Santa Fe Reviews from The Last Year
Absolutely the greatest Huevos Rancheros I have ever had.
I would maybe even consider it the best breakfast I have ever had. But definitely get the huevos rancheros and ask to sit outside as it's extremely pleasant!
Breakfast Gem!
Our favorite little breakfast spot near our inn. We were here 7 years ago and thrilled to see that this family-run business did not succumb to Covid, and in fact has expanded! Damian, the owner, is delightful, the food is made fresh and to order, with love and heart. We only ate breakfast (choosing this intimate spot over bigger, better known breakfast places off the square) but next time we will get other meals here since all is homemade.
Perfect Mexican cuisine and Southern hospitality
We went to the Palacio Restaurant across the street from our hotel. Finally, I found great Mexican food. I had chicken fajitas with beans, crispy tortillas, salsa, avocado and my husband had medium well grilled burger. Both meals were fantastic and we can’t ask for more welcoming service: our server, Maria, was an example of Southern hospitality and the chef was very gracious too: he came up to our table to ask us about our meals and I told him how delicious they were.
I'll never set foot inside this restaurant again.
I ordered the enchiladas and they were extremely spicy! My mouth and lips were on fire. I explained this to the owner and he recommended the beef fajitas. I took my first bite and they were beyond salty and gooey . I returned them. At this point I didn't want a thing. My mouth was still on fire and the salty fajitas left me not wanting to eat The fajitas were returned as well The owner was annoyed and had the nerve to blame alcohol as the issue. I'd had 2 drinks. When the bill arrived, I was charged for both plates that I returned. My boyfriend had 1 beer , but they charged us for six Then the owner proceeded to have a tequila shot with my boyfriend, while ignoring me. At the end, we walked out with a 120$ bill for 1 meal Awful experience... the owner is a rude misogynist

We didn't feel like waiting for 1 1/2 - 2 hours at one of our favorites here in Santa Fe & decided to give Palacio a try since it was steps away from our hotel. I'm so very glad we did! My husband & I enjoyed the fresh guacamole with these awesome tortilla chips as an appetizer, followed by two orders of the chicken enchiladas with green chile. So yummy!! I had a Cimarron margarita & hubby had one with Hornitos, both delicious. Prices are very reasonable, food was flavorful & & the service was outstanding. I'm thinking we may have found a new favorite to add to our restaurant rotation list!
I've eaten here a handful of times, and the breakfast
I've eaten here a handful of times, and the breakfast burrito with bacon & green chile never fails to hit the spot. It is very good, and in retrospect, right on par with that of Tia Sophia's & Pantry Rio. Also, it's so filling that it's enough to keep you satisfied until late dinner. The cafe is cute, with brick floors and large wooden ceiling vigas. The walls are painted a vibrant yellow and morning or afternoon sunlight makes for an even prettier scene. I think I prefer takeout to dining in, though, because the two times I've dined in, the service has been inattentive and extremely slow. The staff are friendly (if only you can get their attention!).

This wasn't my first choice for dinner but the reviews are good so I came here because my original 2 plans fell through. It's a cute place with seats inside and outside patio. My server was very nice but service was relaxed. I went with his recommendation of steak tacos. They were tasty. The rise on the side was delicious and I liked the salsa, it was different than other salsas I have had. I enjoyed the meal. But then I ruined it with the flan. Maybe im being too picky but the texture was not right. Flavor was definitely on point, not too sweet and wonderful caramel but I think it was over baked. It's almost rubbery in texture. Maybe this was an off day for them? Wish I could give 4.5 stars for slow service and the flan.

Food: Excellent Recommendation: Green Chile stew (Hearty, spicy, warm, filling) on a cold day. Service: Excellent, ALWAYS! Very friendly staff. Prices: Reasonable Ambiance: Quaint, Santa Fe style (very small dining area) Everything on the menu sounds delicious! Parking: A bit challenging to find street side parking. The wonderful service and delicious food cancel out the parking issue.

Good service and delicious food from a family owned and operated eatery in business for over 14 years. We came here for both breakfast and dinner and found the food to be delicious and beautifully presented. They also offer beer and wine along with some tasty margaritas and other cocktails. Indoor and outdoor seating in the back and on the sidewalk. A great choice for casual dining with an assorted menu selection.
Fresh, authentic, reasonably priced.
Good portions! Home made - we will be back! Guacamole great, tortillas home made, fish tacos amazing, enchiladas were very tasty!
Great food and great service!
We sat in the front patio with our dog. The service was very friendly!! Everyone that waited on our table was amazing! We had the tamales and the chile relleno. Delicious! I highly recommend! It was such a welcoming place with great food.
This is such a warm and welcoming place to dine.
The service is excellent here! The food is quality and absolutely delicious. We were looking for something special in Santa Fe--This is the place! The chicken enchiladas and pork tamales were fantastic! Damien was our server and made us feel like like family. We would highly recommend this restaurant!
Highly recommend the green chile stew! Haven't ever had
Highly recommend the green chile stew! Haven't ever had anything quite like it. Chile rellenos were solid. I wish they had more drink options (only one beer on tap, and only a couple cocktail choices).
Great Food! Great courtyard!
Excellent Northwrn New Mexican Food The chef owner , Darian is amazing. The chicken enchiladas were delicious because the chicken was succulent and not dry! Res and green chili sauces outstanding!
Great food!
Excellent service with authentic food. We had the chilie relleno, one with red sauce and the other with green sauce. Very delicate flavor. Served with Pisole and beans. The wife had chicken enchiladas either the same sauces and also excellent!

Okay. When we came in, there was one other table used and that was just about 12pm. Within 30 minutes all tables were full. The music is perfect, the atmosphere is cute and works without being over stimulated. The noise of all the tables... you would think you couldn't hold a conversation because of how busy they were but it was surprisingly quiet. Now the food... i got the ham and cheese on toasted sourdough bread. This wasn't anything to have again. The fries though were good. My husband got the Cuban Ruben.. He liked every bite.

Staff were awesome and the food was amazing! We sat in the patio, had a beer and throughly enjoyed our visit. The frontage is unassuming but interior is cozy. Chicken enchiladas Christmas style, frijoles, & posole were superb

Food here is something you are looking for when coming to Santa Fe! Yummy red & green chile dishes available. I enjoyed the huevos rancheros and cup of coffee. Made perfectly and very flavorful. Not hot that it burned, but spicy flavor that was rich & delicious. Service was friendly & helpful. It's a small, but cute little place right in the heart of Santa Fe. I would return
This was the perfect restaurant for us to try New Mexican
This was the perfect restaurant for us to try New Mexican cuisine in Santa Fe ., it was right down the street from another popular place that told us it was more than an hour wait so we walked away and thankfully found palacio ., they gave us a warm smiling welcome in. It had a relaxed homey atmosphere and the menu was simple and easy to make choices. I had the pork tamale platter and it was so good ., I'm sorry that I live so far and won't be able to have it again any time soon ! My son isn't that adventurous so he got a cheeseburger and fries .. it was really a nice big size burger and generous portion . I also enjoyed the ipa that is brewed at Santa Fe brewery.. I can't wait to go back
Lunch or dinner it’s a winner
Stopped here yesterday for lunch and it was excellent. Home made mushroom soup followed by nachos . Delicious . Service charming - would highly recommend
Great Spot Near the Plaza for a Late Lunch
After a big breakfast and hitting the Plaza and Canyon Road, we were looking for a place for a 3pm lunch. Palacio Cafe was the perfect spot! Great service and good menu with salads and sandwiches, along with the New Mex dishes. Even with a full room we could easily visit about the day’s adventures. And an easy walk down Palace from the Plaza or , if you are driving, in a part of town in which street parking is not impossible to find. We’ll keep this place in mind for our next visit.
Delicious!!
Hot and delicious New Mexican dishes really hit the spot on a very chilly February evening! Topped dinner off with a lovely flan for dessert.
Embarrassingly Abysmal Treatment at Palacio - Spring Break 2023
During my college years, I managed a restaurant and learned to respect seated customers' rights to their tables. Contrary to this, Palacio didn't uphold this practice. My daughters and I, fresh from a great morning on the mountain, opted for lunch at Palacio. We were seated swiftly but soon interrupted by the host. He relayed that a mother from another family, angrily claimed they'd been waiting longer for our table. But he wasn't clear about what he expected from us. I asked if he meant for us to vacate the table. His hesitant response — initially yes, then no — only escalated the discomfort, especially under the watchful eyes of the demanding mother and other curious patrons -- one of whom leaned over and told us to 'stay put and not give in.' The indecisiveness from the host, coupled with the angry mother's spectacle, spoiled the mood completely. Opting not to stay in this unwelcoming atmosphere, my daughters and I discussed our options and decided not to give this cafe any of our time of money. We quietly and quickly gathered our belongings and left Palacio never to return. The attached photo captures a moment of anticipation before the incident, before 'Karen' caused a commotion and the indecisive host mishandled the situation. Leaving the café was a relief, and we have no plans to revisit Palacio.
A Great Place to Dine
In case others restaurants for full (or even if they aren't) you need to give Palacio's a try. We loved our meal and the service. We will make a return trip!
Bad service
Bad service from owner's son. After being ignored we asked to be waited on and he said "Get the hell out of here or i'll call the police".
