Sushi Hil Vancouver Reviews from The Last Year
Delicious
We very much enjoyed our dinner here. The food was so good and fresh. E.g. blue fin tuna tasting, Maki set, sashimi, beef tataki, motoyaki and etc. We like their assorted platters so you can enjoy a variety of items. You must make a reservation as this is a small restaurant or you will be turned away. A little sake and beer to pair was just right.
High quality, well-prepared sushi -- it doesn't get any
High quality, well-prepared sushi -- it doesn't get any better than this! Absolutely everything here is awesome, even including things that are easily taken for granted like wasabi/miso soup/tea etc. I've been here twice and tried their nigiri (assorted), bluefin set, chawanmushi, snow crab roll, and oyster motoyaki. I was blown away by everything. Just be prepared to make a reservation in advance and shell up some $$.
First off, service is excellent.
We made reservations for two and when we arrived, our table wasn't ready yet so the staff was very apologetic and offered us free miso soup upon sitting down after waiting for 15 mins. Sashimi was very fresh and their Nagasaki blue fin tasting did not disappoint. Place is small so make a reservation first, I would not recommend for party larger than 4 otherwise it's crowded. Sake and wine selection was abundant. We ordered their hot house sake and it was good. One thing we regret is ordering the caviar with the oysters because we couldn't really taste the difference due to the amount ponzu/condiments they already added to the fresh oysters. We ordered half dozen with caviar and half without, but both tasted almost identical not worth paying the extra $10 a piece.
very good sushi in Vancouver small room with 12 seats,
incredible sushi but the responsibility is in the choice of the best fish in particular the quality of the 3 fatty tuna offered is phenomenal... very good sushi chef, rightly recommended by the Michelin guide, chamanmoushi with foie gras +++ everything was excellent. very good service only the sorbets or ice creams probably coming from Costco or equivalent could be replaced by Japanese pastries which are not lacking in Vancouver!!! the prestige of the house is much better than these industrial ice creams that are too sweet and tasteless.
I was in the area and looking for the highest rated sushi
I was in the area and looking for the highest rated sushi place and sushi hill popped up. However, I must have missed the reviews saying how insanely expensive it is. This restaurant is definitely not a regular dining spot, but more a high end restaurant for fancy people. All rolls are about $18 each, even basic ones. Nigiri is around $8 a piece. Now don't get me wrong, the flavor and quality is amazing, I was just caught off guard and felt guilty leaving after seeing the menu. The servers here were very kind and informative in regards to recommendations. A lot of guests were here for the omakase which looked amazing. Everything was made delicately with care, marinated to perfection and plated beautifully. One star lost for me because of the prices being so elevated, but delicious, just more for rich people I guess lol.
A friend came from out of town so we decided to visit Sushi
A friend came from out of town so we decided to visit Sushi Hil for a unique dining experience. When we were inside the cozy restaurant we were warmly greeted by staff and shown to our seats at the counter of the sushi bar which allowed us to see all action of dishes being assembled all night long. They don't offer Omakase anymore but it was easy to assemble something similar with all the options on their menu. We started off with the Hotate Butteryaki and ended with the Oshi. The dozen fresh oysters surprised us, their Chirashi Royale was a decadent feast of "all butter" yummy high-quality ingredients. The Sashimi Moriawase was lovely - of note was the jellyfish but it showcased a lot of fresh quality fish. We were blown away by the Nagasaki Blue Fin Tasting - the quality of the Chutoro was almost the Otoro level and the Otoro of course was angelic. Do not end with the Negitoro at the end of this tasting plate finish it with the Otoro. This Miso Soup was also awesome - large chunks of tofu and a good amount of seaweed. Solid for a rainy night. We were the last table to leave but they didn't rush us out - we saw all the hard work they did to keep the sushi bar and the general restaurant clean. A lot of love and pride goes into this restaurant. It was a great experience - thanks Sushi Hil!
Marvellous sushi on Main Street
Discovery on Main next to the excellent Vietnamese restaurant An & Chi of this small restaurant opened barely a year ago that does not have to blush greats like Minami, Miku, Octopus of Vancouver. Exceptional Chawanmushi infused with foie gras, roll with crispy salmon skin, gommae with spinach and sesame, snow crab roll with mango, a king salmon tataki in a homemade ponzu avocado and Thai chips incredible OTORO sashimi (very fat)
Been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time now and
Been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time now and was finally able to try it today. It's a nice and small place great for just chatting. Servers were nice. I enjoyed the majority of the food here. Their ingredients are really fresh and they use "real" wasabi here & deliciously thin ginger (unlimited refills). The only dish I personally didn't enjoy at all was the Hotate Butteryaki. The butter flavour wasn't pronounced enough and mushroom flavour too strong. I absolutely recommend their seasonal oysters (kusshi) & their Chirashi Royale (enjoyed every bite). Will come back just for these 2 dishes alone. A good place to splurge a little.
Sushi Hil is one of my favorite sushi restaurants all over
Sushi Hil is one of my favorite sushi restaurants all over the west coast (I'm from Seattle, WA). I love that the goal at Sushi Hil is not for everyone to experience a $100+ omakase. Sushi Hil has amazing nigiri sets and fabulous off menu cuts. We particularly like the aburi engawa. The service is always wonderful with never ending refills of tea and ginger. I unfortunately don't have pictures from this past time but the presentation is beautiful. I appreciate that the restaurant is small and there isn't loud music playing so you can really enjoy the company and the food.
Not sure it was worth the price.
. We got the royal chirashi which included bluefin tuna, king salmon, Wagyu beef, and foie gras. It came with miso soup and a salad. The pieces in the chirashi were small and all mixed together. I couldn't really tell what I was eating in any given bite. I would've preferred the rice to be warm with the cold sashimi cuts but it was cold. It was good but not sure if it's worth 100 bucks pre tax and tip? What do you think??
Super cute and great sushi place.
Reservation was easy and quick. Fish was tasty and fresh. Service was great as well. We have 3 people wanting to share 3 different sets and they modify the blue fin set to include 3 pieces instead of 2 pieces per type(with reasonable additional cost) so we could all have one. Would want to come back and try the dinner Omakase menu.
I first came to Sushi Hil last winter when I went to
I first came to Sushi Hil last winter when I went to Whistler for skiing and snowboarding, went with a bunch of friends and we had the Omakase. It was the most amazing Omakase that I've had. It was so good that we came back the next day for lunch and I got the chirashi bowl which was phenomenal. Chef Hilary is a mastermind with his creations. My girlfriend saw all the pictures from my experience and we had to come back again. I will continue to make the drive here JUST for this place. It's clean and the vibes are great. If you ever have the chance to come here DO IT & get the omakase!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
