The Hidden House Chandler Reviews from The Last Year

This place is packed on weekend nights, so make a reservation. I took my partner here for a date night, and it was on point. The food is all excellent, and despite their menu has some extravagantly priced big-ticket items, we managed to have a great meal while staying on the more affordable options. The drink menu is really the highlight here, though, and they have an impressive range and variety to include everyone's favorite spirit as the centerpiece of an inspired cocktail. Their spirit list is sufficiently extensive, with some nice rare inclusions for the connoisseurs out there. The service is very professional, as one would expect from a fine dining establishment. Probably our favorite part was the live music that night, which really completed the ambiance. Highly recommend for a date night or special night out with friends or family.
East Valley friends it breaks my heart to share this about
East Valley friends it breaks my heart to share this about what had been one of our favorite places. Our last 3 visits to the Hidden House has left us feeling less than valued as a guest. Something has changed. The vibe, server energy & hospitality now feels like it's a burden to serve a guest. Short answers, long waits & I have witnessed a female manager speak harshly to a staff member. We asked our server for the wine menu again & she responded "it's your world & I'm just living in it". Bring the old "love" back! It's a precious place but between us and a few other couples who have shared similar experiences, go for the food but have low expectations of being welcomed.
Had another amazing dinner at The Hiideen House on Tuesday.
This is my favorite restaurant to visit at least once every time I am in the Phoenix area. Ambiance is perfect on the front patio. The service is outstanding (Greg is outstanding) and the food can't be best. Caesar salads were perfectly dressed. All of us enjoyed our paella, short ribs and filets. Just perfect all the way around. Check this one out!
My wife and I absolutely LOVE The Hidden House.
Everything about this places is high quality, from the food, the service, the decor and the ambiance. We've been here several times and it's always a consistent hit!!
Every time I come to Hidden House I am totally impressed!
Every time I come to Hidden House I am totally impressed! It's such a fun place to bring people for birthdays or just something special. The staff is always so helpful & friendly, and the food & drinks are consistently top notch! Ordered the fois gras, butter board, shishito peppers, seafood paella, and the braised beef & polenta. They also had a nice birthday treat for my friend!
My husband and I went there for our anniversary a few
My husband and I went there for our anniversary a few months ago and the food was amazing! I got the duck pasta and bacon chowder soup as well as the chicken tacos for an appetizer and they were delicious, we definitely will be coming back again
One of the best dining experiences this month.
High-quality guest service, the top level of food. Best restaurant environment and atmosphere. We started with coconut ceviche and calamari. I loved the coconut ceviche. It tasted like fresh and Caribbean flavors, the seafood was so delicious, and you could taste the sweetness of scallops. Calamari was not my style, but my wife really enjoyed that dish. I thought it was too dry and couldn't feel the calamari. Then the drink came, Ramos Gin Fizz, shaken for 12 mins, totally worth for that time, like a glass of cloud. I ordered the beef cheek for the main course, and my wife ordered the salmon. That salmon is top 5 in the Chandler area in my heart. However, I have to be honest about the beef cheek; if you are Chinese or Asian, I do not recommend it. The desserts are luscious, rich, and smooth. The whole restaurant is designed by heart, and I can tell the owner pays a lot of time and energy. The servers and manager were friendly and helpful, and they were willing to stay and listen to you. They were willing to spend time getting feedback from the guest and improving it. Although I am in the middle of the desert, I feel like I went to a great seafood fine dining at the Caribbean beach.
Lunch on Saturday for 7 adults and 2 infants.
Great service, cocktails were excellent and priced well, had to get a couple butter boards and extra bread, just so dang good! Everyone got a sandwich, duck confit, chicken, blt, short rib were all very good. The bread and rolls for the sandwiches were also solid, fresh and tasty. And we had lots of room in the back area, I am sure dinner is an elevated experience but lunch was a good experience.
Did not live up to expectations
We made reservations at The Hidden House tonight to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had eaten at the restaurant once previously (last year) and had a wonderful meal. Not this time. There were a few issues. First, the two of us were seated in the back area of the restaurant next to a table of 6 women, one of whom had the loudest laugh (more like a severe cackle) that we ever heard. So much for a quiet meal. We probably made a mistake by not immediately moving, but we thought she wouldn't continue. We were wrong. Then we thought that once their food came, she would settle down. Again, it didn't happen. As we looked around, all the other tables were also reacting whenever she laughed. It was very loud! Unfortunately, she was seated right next to us. So that "problem" was more on us for not insisting that we change tables. But I wish the hostess would have used more discretion when seating a couple right next to a large group like that -- they are bound to be loud. Second, for a "fine dining" establishment, the level of service leaves a lot to be desired. Our waiter spent very little time checking on us. He took our order, but did little else to see how we were doing. Never asked how the food was until he cleared the plates. I then mentioned that I didn't like the lamb dish, but he laughed it off like I was making a joke, even though I only ate the 3 pieces of lamb and hardly touched the extremely dry chickpea/squash garnish (which covered half the plate). While ignoring us, he did have the time to spend several "sessions" with the women at the table next to us, checking on their drinks and telling his musical "life story". After he "breezed by" a couple times to clear the plates, deliver the check and finally bring back my credit card, we finally got his attention to explain that we were not happy with the service. His response was "I wish I would have known sooner". Our response was, "if you would have spent any time at our table ...". A manager did come around to check on how our meal was while we were sampling our first bite of food, but when we told her that, she indicated that she would be back. We never saw her again. So it was not a good night. I do not think that we will return.
Will not return
We ordered the special of the day which was very expensive. Very small portions unless you order a sandwich. Few dinner options unless you order a sandwich. Will not return.
such a great hidden gem, food was wonderful service was
such a great hidden gem, food was wonderful service was great . it was perfect for lunch date wirh my daughter . very nice charming patio seating
Great spot, and very unique to downtown Chandler.
Some of the best drinks in the valley.
Food was ok.
Nothing spectacular, but everything prepared ok, and tasted ok. What was not OK, was extremely high prices on the drinks and their food. There are better places for the $$$, where the drinks and food are spectacular.

The Ambience is great and appetizers butter/bread tray, However, the lamb was dry, tough and very little flavor. Also, the plate looked like 1/2 a plate of food.
We gave this place a try last evening.
A warning to all: don't go during inclement weather. For our reservation we were seated outside. There are some heaters outside and some ramada, but not all tables have overhead cover or heat. We tried to tough it out to make it to order, but we were too cold in the wet and windy evening to make it that far. Fortunately, we were able to find an alternate restaurant that was much more comfortable.
I have reviewed this restaurant twice and found the food
I have reviewed this restaurant twice and found the food mediocre and service rude both times. they offered to make it better and the follow up was even worse! too many choices to try this again! Give it a pass., The Ambience was nice but so what if food and service is missing.
Go. Now. No need to think about it, any further. I cannot
Go. Now. No need to think about it, any further. I cannot believe we have not dined here, until yesterday. Great service. Great drinks. Killer menu...seared fois gras and butter board as an appetizer.... Huge venue with indoor and outdoor options. Big private parking lot when Chandler is notoriously difficult to park nearby your restaurant. Just go. Now!
Perfect!
Birthday celebration! Great outdoor seating, live music, great service and fabulous food. Can’t wait to return! Highly recommend!
Great special occasion restaurant.
Outdoor seating, great food and cocktails in the heart of downtown Chandler.
Loved the atmosphere of this restaurant! Shared some
Loved the atmosphere of this restaurant! Shared some apps/salads/drinks with some friends and everything was delicious! Service was outstanding as well. We tried the butter board and it was nothing liked I've had before! Definitely recommend trying it!
Good food, Great service, Terrible hostess
The lunch menu was limited unless you want something way out of the ordinary. The sandwiches we had were very good though. The waitress (Madison) was superb. The patio was very nice, although it lacked any decorations for the holidays, which would have been nice. The Hostess made us want to leave immediately. It seemed as though we were bothering her and I believe she never uttered a word to us. It’s a shame when the 1st person you encounter at a restaurant is not friendly. I don’t think we will return here.
Date night gone bad.
Where do I begin? My husband made reservations for us here because online, the menu included normal food and the photos looked romantic. I would never go back here for several reasons. #1, they sat us right between the actual building and the pergola, under a bright light that made it feel like we were on display and also attracted little flying bugs. Not romantic. #2, the menu presented was not what was advertised online. The options were limited to fancy schmansy foods that were not what the average customer is looking for. Too many weird flavor combinations and just overall they are trying to do too much. Less really is more sometimes. Our waiter told us they had JUST changed the menu to include more exotic foods, but it hadn't been updated online yet. Had we known this prior, we would not have even thought about going there. Also, the meals don't come with anything, no sides, not even a breadbasket to munch on while you're waiting forever for a waiter. Everything is priced separately. #3, the price was ridiculous for the miniscule portions you get. My husband got short ribs (about the size a 12-year-old could eat) with grits and crunchy little pickled pearl onions for $40 and left him unsatisfied and still hungry. I ordered the filet mignon which came with a fried potato cake and one big mushroom for $48 and it just didn't taste good. The flavors don't go together and certainly don't justify the pricing. Very disappointing for all the money that was spent. #4, the wait service was SLOW. I mean slow. I waited for almost 20 minutes just for a sample of a wine. The only plus to this place is the atmosphere, but not where we were seated. Long story short, if you want good expensive food, go to Longhorn Steakhouse. It's worth the price and the food is delicious.
Mediocre food and service.
I had more expectation for this restaurant. We both was a bit disappointed. Both the food and service was mediocre.
Even Emmie loves Hidden House! 💗🐶
I just love this place! 💗💗👏 Always excellent service and excellent food! Definitely a “hidden” gem! We are repeat customers.
Excellent food, atmosphere....Service was spotty, inconsistent....
Excellent dinner / food was super. Service was pretty lacking, something the management should address. Zack would disappear for a while, leaving us without any service....Servers would walk by....and we would have to "Tackle" them.....But would go back, for the food...Knowing that this was just an off night.
Bad first impression, but Zach saved the night.
This is our first visit to Hidden House. Our first impressions were awkward - the hostess was extremely awkward in seating us. First, she hung up on someone calling in after putting them on hold to seat us. Second, she cut in front of my wife while seating us. Third, when we asked for a different table because of the sun that was shining directly on us, she told my wife sit on another side of the table where the sun wasn't shining (yet) - my wife obliged, but later admitted she felt like she was rude. The dining room we were seated in was nearly empty, with only two or three other parties seated in a dining room with about 80 occupancy available. There was no reason why we shouldn't be able to be seated in a different section after asking, but she was not at all accommodating to us. We tried to stick it out in those seats, but when the sun became too much for both of us, we again asked for a different table. The waiter (Brian) was rather rude and told us that the dining room was going to be full tonight. Again, there were roughly two other parties seated among roughly twenty tables. So at least seventeen tables were still available. Brian acted as if we were inconveniencing him to get us seated at another table, and informed us he would ask his manager if one was available. He came back and informed us to "grab your waters and menus" and he walked us to another one of the seventeen available tables in the room. I proceeded to tell Brian that he has to understand, that he likely wouldn't want to sit directly in the sun, and Brian seemed as if we were bothering him. We then had another waiter (Zach) come over to cater to us and it was an entirely different experience from the get-go. Zach seemed to understand that there was some tension in the air and he actually prevented us from walking out and proceeded to make the rest of our dinner an extremely pleasant experience. My wife and I then had an amazing meal with excellent service (thanks to Zach). I had the Wagyu beef Zataki, and my wife had the filet mignon. The salad that we shared was excellent, the main course was fantastic, and the drinks and dessert were wonderful. Thanks, Zach, for treating my wife and I to a pleasant dining experience and saving us from having to walk out. We're not sure if we'll be back, as there are countless other restaurants in the greater Phoenix area, but we do want to put in a good word for Zach and make management aware of our experience tonight. 3.5 stars. If not for the initial setbacks, we would have rated it 4.75. We understand that it's tough to find good help right now, but take heed of this review and make corrections.
Fantastic!
FANTASTIC!!! If you haven't taken the time to dine at The Hidden House, you're missing out! My husband and I went there tonight and it was every bit as good as the feedback we were given by friends. I wish I would have taken picture but we do "no device dinners!" We tried a couple of their cocktails. The three dashes and a dot was our favorite. Appetizers were braised lamb tacos and blackened shrimp skewers! Delicious!! Entrees were the halibut and seafood paella! Seriously, mouth watering!!! Stuart, our server, and Andy were attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and personable!! We did not eat dessert because we were so full! Try this place in Chandler. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed!! Thank you for an incredible date night experience!!
A very nice experience for a special occasion
I really wasn't sure about this place, looking at the menu (which apparently is changed seasonally). I was worried that it would be one of those places that take itself too seriously. They are serious about the food, though. It was really quite good and it was clear they care about the whole experience, food included. We were ushered through the front dining area outside, which had me worried because it's really, really hot right now in Arizona. Well ended up in a second dining area which was bigger. It looks like perhaps a converted barn? There was music but the whole dining area was pretty quiet, even as it began to fill up. The menu is very small, which is preferable, but there's a variety of tastes fur everyone. The menu included foie gras on more than one dish which some might find distasteful. I wasn't offended but I did not partake even though I have enjoyed it in the past. We split a fruit and cheese plate, and a Caesar salad between three of us, the each had a main. I had a duck breast with an Asian flair (nearly got the Italian-style paella but the duck was a bit smaller), the other two people had a filet and a pork chop. Everyone thought the food was excellent. Were finished with a "pineapple right-side-up" cake and a Nutella pistachio cup. Both very nice, though the cake was very sweet (reminded me of stuff I had had in Hawaii). The wait staff were polite, attentive, informative, patient, and very friendly. They were absolutely not obtrusive. There was no pretention and we felt really welcome. This was a special occasion meal, and the prices reflect the quality of the food and the service for sure. Now I have to figure out some more special occasions because I will definitely be going back again.
