Large hotel, nice-ish staff, too many rules
The hotel is very large and has a large selection of rooms. They charge for everything though and are very picky about a lot of things. I didn't really get the typical upgrade either, but that was ok, the room I booked was very nice. I would stay here again, but expect very little in return. Its just for the views.
Enjoyed the facilities
I liked the lobby which gave a warm relaxing feel. The room was huge and I enjoyed doing some work and reading there. Didn’t feel cramped. I used the onsen everyday especially the outdoor one. I thought that was great experience at end of the day after some hours of walking in the street. Gym machine variety was limited but the good thing was that you could rent the whole set of gym attires without the need to wash them. The indoor pool was warm enough during winter which I enjoyed using it. I used the satellite concierge that is located at Kyoto Station for the check-in and check-out. A bit challenging to locate the office the first time. It is located inside the mall that is connected with Kyoto Station. The shuttle bus service was helpful since the hotel is located some distances away from the shopping streets. Staffs were friendly and helpful. Overall, I enjoyed my 4-nights stay.
Great Westin in Kyoto! Best Spa/Gym
Great establishment! massive lobby / gym / spa spaces. Staff friendly. Room is spacious. Location is also great, with lots of local small restaurants nearby! Def go check out their spa and outdoor onsen. Bfast is good but requires some waiting while we were there during Xmas days.
Nice hotel with rich history but lackluster service
Lovely hotel with nice hardware but service is lacking for such a culturally rich hotel. Stayed here for 2 nights and was upgraded to a suite. Nice hotel with many facilities and there was a shuttle service running between the hotel and kyoto station which was very convenient. Room was big and nice. But the housekeeping did not seemed to be doing a good job. When going into the blanket for bed the second night, there were many strains of hair under the blanket. Breakfast the first day was also disappointed by the staff at the restaurant. Went in at around 930am which was definitely not the peak period and requested to sit by the window since it's empty but the staff told me that it's reserved or closed. So i just went to sit at the table they assigned. But around 10 mins later, other people were allowed to sit at the tables by the window. Disappointing experience. Breakfast was offered either buffet style or japanese set and you can only choose one. The spread for the buffet was limited though. Overall, nice hotel with good rooms and really huge. It took some time to walk to my room. But service is seriously lacking.
Exemplary hospitality to make you feel happy about life!
I seldom dish out five-star reviews. The highest compliment I usually pay is four-star, where a level of expectation has been reached, and an experience was excellent. What makes a five-star review, then? Simple. A hotel like the Westin Miyako Kyoto exceeding expectations on almost every level I can think of. ‘Oldness’ is Japan doesn’t matter, so long as you have high standards. For example, find an old spot down a spacious corridor here and you’re likely to find it clean, tidy, decorated and furnished, regardless of whether anyone would use it or walk regularly past. Through a door we found after visiting an on-site bird-watching trail, we discovered a part of this vast hotel we’d missed the previous few days of our stay. Yet, despite its size, the hotel runs like clockwork thanks to the apparent loyalty of its employees and the joy they pass proudly on to their guests. If their joy and happiness is a facade, we didn’t care. From the pleasantries and helpfulness of those manning the lobby, to the busy people running the exemplary breakfast room, everyone we encountered made us feel wanted, needed and special. That’s the kind of hotel I revisit. I would come back here without a second thought.
BAD SERVICE
Complaints issues of Nov24 in The Westin Miyako Kyoto: 1. According to the hotel staff guidelines, our 4 guests walked on the sidewalk in front of the hotel, tripped and fractured steps, without any safety tips. 2. Return to the hotel for translation and medical help, half an hour later no any translator in place, only contacted a hospital, and hired a taxi ,let injured guests take car to the hospital by herself,no other further assistance. 3. We bookded 2 rooms, parents waiting in one room for about 2 hours, another room only check-in but no one step in (go to hospital). Finally the hotel charged the full night of 2 rooms. 4. About 17:00 guests back to the hotel, check out and ready to go to the airport. Once again we feedback all the issues happended in hotel to a female hotel manager, without any apology and advice. TOO BAD FOR FIVE STARS!!!!!

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
